Vacation in The Maldives

White sand beaches, colorful underwater life, all-inclusive hotels – tropical locations are some of the most wanted destinations for vacations.

One of the most beautiful places on earth is The Maldives. The biggest island there is Male – also the island where you’ll probably land, since it’s the biggest International airport – Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.

Once you’re In Male, you’ll have to find a transport to your designated island. Usually it’s a ferry or even another plane.

The flight there is pretty expensive, and with time differences you lose a day or two due to jet lag so it’s best to stay there for about 5 days or a week.

When to come?

Well, this is something to consider when you go to tropical locations – which months are preferable for different kind of activities.

Usually in tourism world we split each year into two – High season and Low season. The High season for visiting the Maldives is December throughout April, mostly around Christmas and new years’, because this is the “dry season” there. Low season is May throughout November, when the Europeans come less, and the monsoons hit more. Probably November is the best month for a budget visit, since most likely the monsoons will be over, but the prices will still be low. More on the subject you’ll find here: http://www.overwaterbungalows.net/when-to-visit-the-maldives.html

Actually overwaterbungalows.net is a great site which consists from hotels with bungalows over the water.

Where to Stay

99.6% of the Maldives is water – the rest are countless number of islands. Most of those islands are small – so small that they have only one resort per island, so you have to be prepared beforehand – We’d suggest an all-inclusive hotels, because you’d probably eat in the hotel anyway, since this gonna be the only place to eat on the island ( except the big islands ). The following hotels are some of the most interesting ones to consider price wise and quality wise. Especially for this exotic location this list only consist of hotels that have overwater bungalows:

  1. Sun Island Resort & Spa, Nalaguraidhoo
  2. Velidhu Island Resort, Velidhoo
  3. Meeru Island Resort, Meeru
  4. Medhufushi Island Resort, Medhufushi
  5. Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort, Vilu
  6. Vakarufalhi Island Resort, Vakarufalki
  7. Komandoo Island Resort, Komandoo
